Heavenly Father Loves His Children

Mauri and I,  The Beytien's home is all decked out with Halloween decorations!
It sounds like you all had a busy and eventful week!  I am glad to report that even though it has been cooling off here, that it is still gorgeous fall weather.  I still cannot believe that September is basically over.

We went on exchanges this week with our sister training leaders.  I was with Sister Murphy during the exchange and we saw many miracles throughout the day.  We went and visited a sister we have been working with and we had planned a lesson, but when we got in there we changed and taught Joseph Smith's First Vision and how it relates to each of us. The spirit was so strong and it was the message that she needed to hear.  As we shared how through the First Vision we can know that Heavenly Father comes and delivers to each one of us a message that He knows us personally and will help us through our trials.  I could feel the love that Heavenly Father has for this sister as well as for each of His children.  After the lesson with this sister we went to Thora's apartment who is the Marshallese sister that we have been able to visit a couple of times, but haven't been able to see her in over a month.  Well we knocked and no one answered.  So we knocked again, and no one answered, and we were about to leave, but decided to knock one last time and then Thora answered the door!  We didn't have a set appointment with her, but she allowed us in and we were able to briefly teach and discuss about Joseph Smith and baptism.  As we were talking about baptism Thora said that she doesn't want to be baptized unless she can go to church each Sunday, but as of right now she works each Sunday.  She is supposed to be asking her boss for work off on Sundays that way she can make her baptismal date for the week of November 9th!  After Thora's we were able to stop by some potentials and make good contacts with them.  We also visited with a family in our ward who both of them are the only converts in their families.
Sisters Hill, Murphy, Whipple, Call
Thursday was also a good day.  We ended our exchanges and then had district meeting.  Then each Thursday we go over to the Zirker's home and teach from Preach My Gospel.  Brother Zirker has been a former Bishop and Stake President and he and Sister Zirker are always helping others and serving all those around them.  Sister Whipple and I look forward to every time we can go to their home, because we have learned so much from them and their examples of living a Christlike life.

On Saturday we were able to go and visit with a former investigator that we had been given when we first opened the area.  We were able to teach a little bit on the doorstep, but have a time to go back this coming week and visit with her!  That afternoon we went to our Ward Mission Leader's recital at Clarke University, since he is an amazing vocalist and was dedicating one of his songs to the missionaries.  We then went and were able to teach the family that we helped carry their groceries. We really focused on the blessings that come to the family from the gospel and shared the Mormon Message video "Families can be Together Forever"  with them.  We invited them to church and the kids were way excited to come.  Well we arranged rides and everything else for them, but come Sunday morning when we went over there to pick them up there had been a family crisis and they were heading to Iowa City.  Man, I don't know what it is but there seems to be a lot of crisis that happen each weekend ;)  Anyways, the Relief Society broadcast was amazing, as always!  I really loved the analogy of the Provo City Tabernacle and how the Lord will not leave us in the ashes, but whenever we experience a trial like the fire, we can trust that the Lord will show us or prepare us for something even more glorious.

I am so excited for general conference this weekend.  I have been counting down since the beginning of July!  How wonderful it is to know that we do have modern day prophets and apostles that can help us as we strive to live the gospel!

Love you all!

God Has a Plan

Here are two cool stories Hannah sent home in hand written letters written on 23 September 2013.  To understand the first one the editor of the blog (Hannah's Mom) shared that the Relief Society and Priesthood lesson two weeks ago was from Teachings of President Snow lesson 17 and can be found on the following link:  https://www.lds.org/manual/teachings-of-presidents-of-the-church-lorenzo-snow/chapter-17-priesthood-for-the-salvation-of-the-human-family?lang=eng

The people that President Snow is talking about is where Dale's Grandma, Bessie Call's family, the Stayley's are from.  Here is Hannah's letter:

"Neat story about the Waldenese people of Piedmont, Italy.  Marissa Brown (one of the YSA here who leaves in October to serve in the Mississippi Jackson Mission, from Bountiful, UT area) taught that Relief Society lesson about the Saints in Piedmont, Italy and her family was the Malans who were some of the first to receive the gospel and leave Italy to come to Zion.  Her mom sent her family history when I told her my family came from these same people.  Also, I went onto familysearch.org and under the Stayley's story it mentions Marissa Browns ancestors!  So that was a fun connection where we know that our ancestors knew each other."

Sister Call, Sister Whipple and Marissa Brown
The other story Hannah sent was to Justin and shows how much Heavenly Father knows and loves each of his children.

"So neat story about my district leader, Elder Tekanene.  So Elder Tekanene is from the Kiribati Islands and shortly after he had his mission call to Iowa, there was an Elder from Utah who was serving in Elder Tekanene's village.  Well, this Elder from Utah found out Elder Tekanene had his call to Iowa, so he (the missionary from Utah) said to Elder Tekanene, 'I have a grandmother in Iowa, you should find her and baptize her.'  Elder Tekanene being a happy islander laughed and said that he would , but then realistically said, 'Do you know how big Iowa is?'  To which the missionary from Utah said, 'Yes I do.'  Fast forward about 18 months and Elder Tekanene was my district leader when I was serving in Carthage as well.  During the time he was district leader in Macomb, IL he went on exchanges up in Burlington, Iowa and was with Elder Austin when they knocked on this woman's home.  This lady (Doris) asked where Elder Tekanene was from.  He mentioned the Kiribati Islands and Doris mentions that she had a grandson who served a mission there.  It didn't take them long to put the pieces of the puzzle together and discover that Doris' grandson had been the missionary who told Elder Tekanene to find her and baptize her.  Well Elder Tekanene was on exchanges so he was only in Burlington for 24 hours and yet out of all of Iowa Elder Tekanene had found this missionary's grandma.  Well just yesterday (September 22nd), Doris was baptized and Elder Tekanene received permission to be at the baptism.  I couldn't believe it when he was telling us this story.  It just goes to prove that God has a plan for each of us and people will be placed in our path for a reason!"

Another Week

Tuesday we rode down with the Thomas' to Clinton, Iowa for Zone Training meeting.  We were trained by our Sister Training Leaders,  Zone Leaders, and the Assistants to the President.  The training was good, and it really focused on helping members with the missionary efforts.  The Assistants were telling us that the ward that they work with in Des Moines has had over 60 convert baptisms in the last year with 93% of the converts still fully active, and that the ward is the highest baptizing ward in all of North America!!!  What a wonderful thing to have right in our mission under the direction of President Jensen.  The Assistants said that the whole reason the ward is booming is because the members are implementing everything that was in the Work of Salvation broadcast and on the Hastening the Work website!  Just the example of the Des Moines ward goes to show that there are so many more people prepared to receive the gospel than we can even imagine, and if we all do our part the work will explode!!!
Sister Thomas, Sister Call & Sister Whipple
Truth be told.  Tuesday was sort of a rough day at least for the most part.  I was really struggling, because I have been here in Dubuque for over 2 months and I don't feel like the work has been moving anywhere.  And so apparently my mind was fixed on our training and what needs to take place in our ward in order to hasten the work!   I think I got about 3 hours of sleep Tuesday night because my mind was racing.  It was such a long night, but I feel like it was what I needed.  Because when morning finally came, I pulled out my notebook and Sister Whipple and I went through and wrote out what we could do to help the members, and especially the ward council members to catch this wave of missionary work.  As we discussed ways we could help I kept getting more and more excited. That afternoon our district ended up going to the Thomas' and we all talked about the training that we had received the past two weeks and what we needed to do to help the missionary efforts here in Dubuque.  Because for the past couple of months we have all tried to do the missionary work by ourselves and it has gotten us absolutely no where, and so we each had things that we needed to change, and a major part was to involve the members more.  That evening we held a meeting with the Bishops and ward mission leaders.  Sister Whipple and I were talking to the 1st ward Bishop and he said that when Elder Anderson was here in April he had said something along the lines that members should create the missionary experiences in your own ward that you hope others are creating for your son or daughter if they were/are serving.  So if you want your son/daughter to be in a home teaching and having uplifting spiritual experiences, then invite the missionaries in your area to come and have those experiences in your own home.  I thought this was a really good perspective to put on missionary work, because I would way rather be in a members home than get the vulgar/degrading comments yelled at Sister Whipple and I as we are walking along the roadside.

Anyways,  Thursday was a fun eventful day.  There was not a cloud in the sky and so Sister Whipple and I wanted to locate a referral we had received, so we walked over to where we thought it would be.  I think it was close to 90 degrees outside so it was warm.  Well we had been out for about an hour and a half and decided to go get some ice cream at a little store close by to where we were at.  So Sister Whipple and I are sitting outside eating the ice cream when I look up at the sky and see this dark cloud moving towards us.  I kind of laughed and commented that we might get rained on in a while.  Well this cloud kept getting closer, so we decided we would start heading in the direction to our house, so that if we needed to we could swing by and grab our rain jackets before our next appointment.  It was shortly after we started walking back home that we felt the first couple of rain drops and that confirmed that we were going to grab our rain gear before the appointment.  We continue walking home and we get about 3/4 of a mile from home and the rain drops start getting bigger.  So we laughed and decided that we could live with a few raindrops causing our shirts to look a little polka dotted.  And then I said to Sister Whipple that I was glad that it wasn't raining as hard as yesterday morning, because yesterday morning had like rivers in the running down the streets.  (ummm  I spoke to soon)  because not too long after I said that it just started to pour down on us.  haha So we started laughing and couldn't stop laughing at our situation, but we needed to get home.  So we picked up our pace and are hurrying home, but the rain is completely soaking us and it is to the point that we know that no one was going to offer us a ride because it was raining too hard.  Well we finally made it back to our apartment and we were completely soaked through.  I'm pretty sure we could have jumped into a lake and been dryer than we were. We took our clothes and could just wring water out of them and we had to take the soles out of our shoes because we had so much water in our shoes.
completely soaked from the rain storm
Oh how you have to love the weeks you don't have the car.  After we made it back to our house Sister Zirker called to make sure we were alright and then offered to pick us up since we had an appointment at her house next.  Then the other ward sister missionaries called to make sure we were alright as well.
Sister Whipple with soup and bread
Well the rest of the days weren't quite as eventful as the rainstorm on Thursday.  On Friday we helped Sister Zirker make tomato soup and so yesterday we delivered the soup and some homemade bread with Sister Zirker to one of her neighbors.  On Saturday there was an all day family history conference held at the church and the directors over the Family History Center had asked Sister Whipple and I to help out with it!  It was great, there were a lot of non members that came, plus it was good for SIster Whipple and I to learn more about family history as well.

Last week we had helped a family carry their groceries to their apartment so on Saturday after the conference we went over to this families apartment and were able to teach them part of the restoration.  They are such a great family, but aren't particularly looking for a religion right now, but they were willing to read from the Book of Mormon and they asked if we could come back next Saturday!!

Well I hope you are all doing well! I love you all and love hearing from you!

A Pretty Good Week

This past week was pretty good.  We had the car so we didn't walk as much and it has started to cool off so we aren't roasting in the humidity.  Wednesday was a great day!  We started off with our studies and volunteering at Hills and Dales.  We went straight from Hills and Dales to the home of one of the Marshallese that Elder and Sister Thomas have been working with.  James is a member, so they have been teaching his girlfriend Aline.  The only thing holding Aline back from being baptized is getting married.  So we went with the Thomas' since they finish their mission the middle of October so we are slowly picking up the people they have been working with.  Well we taught some of the commandments and then asked them about marriage.  They told us that they would be married on Saturday so that Aline could be baptized before the Thomas' left.  We were all so excited, but shortly after we left their home James called the Thomas' and said that they decided to get married in December so that family from the Marshall Islands would have time to come for the wedding.  Later that afternoon we went and visited one of the less actives we work with and that went well and we created a Book of Mormon reading chart to help her with her reading. That evening we met one of the member's downtown and rode with him and his coworker Vera to his home.  We had dinner with his family and Vera and then taught the first lesson to Vera.  Neat story about Vera.  She is from Ghana and a couple of weeks ago she had a dream where one of the few members of the church she knows gave her a check for a large sum of money.  She had told Brother Meder about this dream and he invited her to meet with the missionaries.  The evening was going well and during one of our conversations she asked about the missionaries in Ghana and how they got to Ghana.  We didn't think much of this question, but come to find out this question was huge!!!  Anyways the evening went well and when we were getting to the end of the lesson it was getting time for the baptismal invite, but near the end she mentioned how she will read the Book of Mormon and will come to church with us every once in a while, but she couldn't become a member.  My heart sank because I was the one who was supposed to extend the baptismal invite and here she basically denied it before we could even extend the invitation.  So we continue on for a little bit and then finally I just bore my testimony and extended the invitation.  I can't even describe how scared I was because the last thing Sister Whipple and I want to do is to scare her off, but we went with the faith that we are supposed to extend this invitation and she hesitated, but she didn't tell us no. I loved teaching her in a member's home because the spirit is in a member's home and she already trusted the member, plus the member's testimony is invaluable.
Sister Whipple and I on road trip to Iowa City.
Thursday we woke up early and the Thomas's picked us and the other sisters up and we headed to Iowa City for the mission tour with Elder Robert C. Gay of the seventy.  There were 8 zones from the mission there so it was a lot of fun to see some of the missionaries I've served with.
 Sisters Lindgren and Call
Sister Lindgren was there and I haven't seen her since the very first transfer meeting when we first arrived in the mission field.  She is now serving in Carthage working with the same people that I had worked with and learned to love!  Well the meeting lasted all day and it was AMAZING!  I can safely say that it was probably the most spirit filled meeting I have ever attended.  One of the things that Elder Gay talked about was the three most important things for a missionary to remember.  The three things to remember are:  Who are you?  Why are you here? and How are you to do it?

Who are you?  You are a divine instrument in His hands.
Why are you here?  You are here to help deliver the powers of Heaven to others through ordinances and covenants.
How are you to do it?  By following with exactness the purpose of Preach My Gospel.

At the start of the afternoon session of the mission tour.  Elder Gay started talking about being a mission president in Ghana.  Right after he mentioned this Sister Whipple and I turned to each other to see if we both understood that this is no coincidence.  He continued to tell about Joseph William Billy Johnson who was a great pioneer for the church in Ghana.  http://www.lds.org/ensign/1999/12/steadfast-african-pioneer?lang=eng (here is a little about his story, but Elder Gay went into more detail) Anyways Sister Whipple and I could not believe what we were hearing.  The faith in the early pioneers of the church in Ghana is inspiring.  And we had absolutely no idea that this is how the church came to Ghana.  Which if you remember the night before,  Vera had asked us about the missionaries coming to Ghana.  Coincidence?  I think not!

Anyways the entire day was so spiritual and it was amazing to hear the testimony of a special witness of Christ!
I love you all and hope you have a great week!

We Walked and Walked and Walked and Walked Some More

These feet were made for walking!

Remember when I read the package from the mission home and thought that since it said all missionaries would have access to a car and occasionally a few elders would be placed on bicycles that I wouldn't have to walk very much?  Haha, well, I thought wrong!   This week we walked, and walked, and walked, and walked some more.

I received the package with the pictures from Lake Powell on Tuesday!  I really enjoyed seeing the pictures and I still can't believe how many fish you caught!  Also, I've officially decided that I love receiving mail and there is nothing better than getting home from a long day and finding mail in the mail box!  Tuesday we had dinner at the Rick's, and Brother Ricks is the one who served with Marion's brother.  That evening we tried by a list of potentials, but didn't have any luck with them.

Wednesday ended up being a great day!  We had our morning studies and served at Hills and Dales. Then one of the members picked us up and took us to her house where we were able to hear her and her husband's conversion story.  Get this so after being a member for 4 years he was called to be a Bishop!  They are such an amazing couple and it was so fun to visit with them!  After meeting with them we came back and met with one of the Less Actives we have been working with.  It is always an adventure and a crisis each time we go over.  It keeps it entertaining, but sometimes it just wears you out.  Anyways the lesson went alright and we made plans for her to come to church on Sunday. While we were visiting with the Less Active member we received a referral from one of the members in our ward and so we were able to call her and she was out of town this last week, so hopefully we will be able to meet with her this week!

We have a member in our ward that wanted to take Sister Whipple and I down to Nauvoo for a temple trip, so we called President to get permission.  Well when President answered the phone he said "Well hello Elders, how is it going in Dubuque?"  haha I responded that it was the Dubuque sisters and we were doing great.  He then said that he hadn't read the caller ID all the way through before he answered.  I had to laugh because I don't even think President knows about the whole "Elder Call" joke in the mission, because he wasn't here when it all took place.  But I told Sister Simmons because she would laugh about it and we both decided that the "Elder Call" ordeal probably isn't going to die anytime soon.

Wednesday evening they have activity night at the church and so one of the sisters has offered to come with us on Wednesday nights since she brings her daughters up to mutual.  So we were supposed to have an appointment with Rancle, and so we showed up at the apartment and Rancle had started a job that day so he wasn't there, but we were able to teach his wife, Jennie.  It was a short lesson but I love having members come with us!  After the lesson we were heading out to the member's car and Elder and Sister Thomas pulled up, because they had an appointment with the recent convert who lives in the same apartment complex.  We visited with the Thomas' for a few minutes and then Sister Zander took us to the place we were going to tract that evening.  As she dropped us off we started heading down a street and Sister Zander flipped a U-turn in her car and tells us that she had a good feeling about the house on the corner.  So we went and tried the house on the corner.  A lady answered the door and immediately asks if we are Latter-day Saints.  Both Sister Whipple and I were not sure where this was going to go, but we of course responded that yes we were.  Come to find out she had been a math professor at UVU and her husband is from Utah so she knows lots about our church!  She told us that she has been in Dubuque for 4 years and has never seen any Latter-day Saints, and that her home is welcome to all of the missionaries and she doesn't extend that invitation to everyone.  haha she also told us that she wouldn't convert, but we'll see about that one :)

Anyways later that evening as we were walking back to our apartment Elder and Sister Thomas drove by and offered us a ride, to which we gladly accepted.  It turns out that they stopped by Tyson's who they were going to visit at the apartment complex and he wasn't home, but as they were heading back to their car Tyson pulled up.  So had we not visited with them when they first pulled up to the complex they would have missed Tyson.  Oh the tender mercies from the Lord!

Well Thursday and Friday we walked, and walked, and walked. And it was mid 90's with humidity. Basically both Sister Whipple and I were covered with sweat and felt so gross whenever we came up to a doorstep.  Friday we walked for over 11 miles and were completely exhausted and drained from the heat.  We were laughing because never before in our lives have we felt so gross when we were supposed to look presentable.  OH well! the gospel is true and needs to be proclaimed to everyone at all times, despite the weather.  Anyways we were able to drop by a lot of the potentials on our list and we were able to set times to return to some of these homes!  So funny story.  We stopped by one potential's home and she wasn't there, but Jeff answered the door and so we were talking with him and he mentioned that he knew quite a few members of our church, but that he was Catholic. And I am not even kidding this is what I said "Well that's okay, you can still become Mormon." Sister Whipple and I are still in shock that I said it, but hey it is true.  Anyways the three of us laughed, and it gave him something to think about.

Okay so we go to the church early on Sunday's to greet people.  As we were by the chapel doors greeting people, Donna (our Nauvoo Pageant referral from a member)  showed up because one of the members she knows was speaking in Sacrament meeting.  Then our less active member that we helped arrange a ride for showed up, and then the family we have been working with every week since we arrived here they all showed up.  The husband never once came to church as his wife investigated the church last year, and since she was baptized in December she hasn't been to church very often.  Well get this as well,  she had been at the hospital the night before getting stitches because she had had an accident with a door and cut her forehead open.

So little miracles have been happening here in Dubuque and we continue to pray for the ability to see more of the Lord's tender mercies in our everyday lives.

I love you all!

p.s.  This coming Thursday we are having a mission tour and Elder Robert C. Gay of the Seventy will be here, so I am way excited about that!

A Hot Week

Well it was HOT this past week!  The heat and the humidity melted us!  The schools all started last Monday and they had early release everyday last week because there is no AC in the buildings and it is too hot to be in class in the afternoons.  But somehow the heat didn't stop us from being a missionary.  On Tuesday we had our normal morning schedule with studies and then service at Hills and Dales.  That afternoon Elder and Sister Thomas came over for apartment checks.  We then went tracting around the University of Dubuque.  We met this one guy, Sean, who has a friend that is on a mission, so he had been to church with her a couple of times.  He had to leave because he was helping with Freshman mentoring, but we are planning on dropping by this week.  We also ran into two wrestlers who knew that their athletic trainer is a member.  We had a dinner appointment with the Spencer's and it was delicious!  Since we don't have a meal coordinator yet, we really haven't had very many meals at members homes, so it was so refreshing to finally have one!  Also, to top it off when we were getting ready to leave, Sister Spencer had made us a loaf of whole wheat bread!  Basically nothing tops a loaf of homemade bread!

So a week or two ago I ordered some supplies and a couple name tags from the office.  So of course in my order I specified that it would probably be best if my name tag said SISTER CALL  rather than Elder.  So we got a text from Sister Simmons when she received the order, and she commented on the Elder Call note.  Well I called Sister Simmons the other day because I had a few questions so when I said it was Sister Call and Sister Whipple on the phone she responded "I don't know of any Sister Call's in the mission, all I know of is an Elder Call"  so we laughed even more.  Sister Simmons called the following morning and so when I answered I said "Hello this is Sister Whipple and Elder Call"  needless to say both Sister Simmons and I were laughing so hard it took us a while before we could even talk, and then we decided that it didn't sound quite right if I answered the phone like that.

Anyways on Thursday we had an appointment with a sister in our ward that we are working towards being able to go and do temple baptisms in the next month or so.  The last time we were there we had left her the reading assigment of Ether 12 and so when we followed up with the assignment it was wonderful.  She had read the chapter at least 6 times so when we asked her what faith is she said how faith is believing in something we can't see and how we have faith in almost every task we do.  So for example we have to have faith that the chair is going to hold us up, but we act on the faith as we sit down in the chair.  She continued to explain several everyday tasks that require faith, but unless you are specifically looking at it as an act of faith it is easy to overlook.  We were also able to contact another Pageant Referral which was great.  She is a good friend to one of the members in our ward and was so excited to get both the pageant CD and the Restoration DVD.

On Friday Sister Whipple and I officially decided that we are in Iowa!  We started the morning off helping the first ward elders move into a new apartment.  So we arrived at their apartment at 8:00 a.m. and they said that they were all packed, but when we walked in we realized that they had completely forgotten to pack the kitchen.  So the sisters were all packing up the kitchen, and since the apartment they were moving out from doesn't have AC it was 89 degrees in their kitchen at that time.  We were able to pack it all up and help them move into their new apartment which has air conditioning and more space so they should be happy.  I had to laugh because as we were helping unpack I took charge of organizing the food into their pantry, and my little bit of OCD was coming out because I had to make sure that it was completely organized and didn't want others to help, because then it created more work for me.  haha  Well after helping them get moved in, Sister Whipple and I ran over to the Eastvedt's home to help husk corn for the ward Hoedown that evening.  We learned all about corn and apparently if you want the best corn you look for the ear that has the smallest kernels. See Iowa is a land of corn so I will take their word for it.  We helped husk over 8 dozen ears of corn and then we went and picked pears off of their pear tree!  Later that afternoon we decided to run by one of the apartment complexes that we are at fairly often.  Well we decided to walk and as we were walking there we felt a couple raindrops but didn't think much of it.  So we went and stopped by one of our investigator's apartments and she was at work, but her cousin's family is living with her for now, so we started talking with them, and Rancle, the husband, had met with missionaries when he lived in Washington.  So we were able to teach them a little bit and set up a return appointment!!! After the short lesson we needed to head home and sure enough the few raindrops that we thought were going to be nothing, turned into rain.  haha we were drenched by the time we got back to the apartment, but we needed to head over to the ward hoe down so we jumped in the car and headed over.  The best part is, when we arrived people just assumed we were sweaty and told us that it was alright we would cool down in  a little bit.  The Hoedown was great and we had over 200 people in attendance, including nonmember friends that came!

Friday night I woke up in the middle of the night to the craziest rain and lightning storm that I have experienced on my mission.  The entire sky was lit up from the lightning which was constant.  Not just a couple of flashes here and there, but literally our room was lit up even with the curtains closed.  Anyways the storm lasted over an hour, and I was just grateful that it was during the night and not when we needed to be outside.  Saturday morning we helped the 2nd ward elders move into a new apartment and then we had district lunch, district meeting, and mission coordination meeting.  So funny story, the other day in companion study it was my turn to pick a hymn to sing and I didn't really feel like picking a song so I decided that we would sing whatever song I opened up to.  Well we ended up trying to sing #31 accapella. . . haha remember the fact that the musical gene is no where to be found in my body.  Ya well Sister Whipple and I laughed more than we sang and tears were rolling down my face because of how pathetic we sounded.  umm. . . ya I'm thinking we will stick with songs we both know.

Sunday was another good day.  Once again no one that said they would be at church showed up, but the day was great.  We had our usual dinner at the Beytien's and then we had the first sunday Marshallese Fireside that evening!

Yesterday was a great day!  We decided to have a district P-day and since we were given left over BBQ Pulled Pork from the ward party we had a potluck lunch at our house with our district.  It was great.  Then we played a couple of rounds of UNO (Elder and Sister Thomas rules) which makes UNO way more intense.  Afterwards we went to the park and played volleyball!  Yesterday evening we had FHE with the Marshallese at the park and one of the Sisters gave us some earrings which are so neat!
Anyways this past week was pretty good!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
Love, Sister Call
